I was assigned today at piano class to practice a new piece for next week. After about a month and a half of Unfaithful, I was up for it. La Valse d'Amelie by Yann Tiersen! I think both that man and the movie of Amelie are genius. I normally can't stand foreign films, but Amelie I'd watch over and over again. The story, the cutesy, the details, the picture.. Yes the picture. Amelie was filmed in such a way that the colors are always extraordinary, no matter what scene.




Also I heard today that I can still go to Paris for a school trip! So now I have to write a good letter and maybe I'll go explore the fashion capital with all bits and bobs attached. Vie superbe.

magnificent

Sweater, dress, tights.. all H&M =# I really have to stop that. It's just that I bought two sweaters, two shirts, a pair of jeans, a dress and a skirt at H&M recently, and.. okay okay I'll confess, I'm a freak for the store. It's just.. magnificent :) This sweater was 9 euros in the sale (it's mens btw)! Yes, you get my fetish now?
(Yes I figured mirror pictures will do for now. I should get professional, get a personal photographer ^^)

It's so beautiful outside now. Cars driving at camping-speed. Even the tramlines above the streets, stop signs, thin tree branches and all the bikes are covered in snow. When on the top of the bridge, a view of a frozen lake with little boats stuck in between (ours too..): it's still pure because no one dares walking the ice.. yet.
Stomping my feet against the stairs to get the snow off, taking off my shoes before going in. When having turned the key with half frozen hands, a smell of food: 'Capuchin dish' we call it. I felt a strong desire to yell 'Mom, dad, I'm home!' throughout the house. In fact I kind of did. Yes, I live for summer days but I'd truly miss the winter if I'd move southward.

You know this daily blogging is really good for me? I'm getting all worked into the fashion-ness again! Tis been a while that I went to style.com, thefashionspot and nymag.com on my own initiative.. Oh yeah while at the second, because I thought let's see what the new year's got on magazines: February covers. What? Isn't it just the fifth of JANUARY, people?!
So here, because it's been 'only a century' since people were like this. And okay, okay, a little news too. Or, news: these were out, like, October last year already. Hear my words: Spring 2010 shows were made a year ago and shown in July 2009. Just saying. Defending my 'oh-my-god-that's-so-last-year'-moment.

going cheap

Vogue UK November 09 'Greatest Hits' I was flicking through this in the store (no chance of buying it for near 10 euros, sorry) and loved this look. It was easy and sailor and stripy and you must know I'm a sucker for stripes. Then I looked at the shoes. I felt I needed a pair of those. Then I looked at the price, and discovered that the world of fashion and magazines is going the right way. Because among all those other pieces in it that were all 'just above' 100 pounds, these shoes are 2. 2! At Primark! Even I could afford that.

Speaking of bargains (which is a loose term), we went shopping today.. or actually we were there for groceries but had to stop at this cheap-o store 'Bristol' for just a quick peak. We found out you could stuff the entire collection in bags and get 20% off. So we did that. And actually this feels way better than H&M because you're pretty sure no one else has got it ;)

So ski vacation was a blast.. ahum. Yes, I've figured it's just not for me. It's cold, you have to get up early and then listen to some irritating French guy not able of speaking propre d'anglais, you have to wear the same clothes every day and coming home you pull your slouchy (though vintage) sweater over your head, and worst of all you have to MOVE. I could have come up with the idea of exercise and stuff, after all it's skiing and that's not just the fun of going downhill.. but I'm not the most sporty girl out there and so next time my dad and sister will go, my mom and I will be found in Paris.
Shopping.
Mostly.
No, pretty much just shopping.

Anywho, I'm sad to say I've followed the Fashion Weeks only passively: through you! Yes, that's right, most collections I've watched through all of your blogs and I don't think there's any need of posting more pics of them.. The only collection I've truly seen every look of is the Marc Jacobs one. Holy moly I love that guy so much. And if you'd want to see my favorite looks, ask for 'em, because I'm not gonna post them just for me. I'm too lazy.

PS. Also, Moschino Cheap & Chic's Fall RTW let me down, but I do really love this (the headpiece! the skirt!):

As a sinner of envy, I feel loneliest in the year on Valentine's Day. I've even stopped hoping some guy would send me anything, because it never happens anyway. I'll probably die alone.

1. That dress.. genius. I never find Kate the most flattering model, but certainly fascinating.
2. That DRESS.... The textures, patterns, colors are all just to die for. This is the reason, the matter and the precise definition of fashion.

Again, it's weekend and that means having all the time in the world to spend behind 'The Holy Screen' and finding URLs of pretty clothes, unknown designers, hypnotizing photos and a couple of bloggers that I'd feel guilty not knowing about. Hints and recommendations are always very, VERY accepted.

Lohan =) doh. I've adored her ever since I was about 6, 7 years old. And now I think it's time I'd worship her on this blog, together with the ads she does for all these great companies. Let's start with the last one she did, just to confuse you.. =X Fornarina! I personally really like the pictures she took, but I'm not sure the (type of) clothes fit her too much.. what about you? (I like the first picture best)

So yesterday, after the shopping, we went to friends of ours. And they have the most amazing bathroom. I'm not kidding. So I made some pictures, they're really nothing special as I'm not in any way a photographer but I wanted you to see this anyway.

I've always been some kind of interested in and amazed by the pretty long gowns full of bows and lace that were worn in the Victorian Age. I feel it could be a great inspiration but also quite a challenge, to portray this look in modern way. I suppose you could just walk around with long veils on a dress that reaches far behind you and makes people trip, but how great it may sound, it's not way too convenient in the 21st century.

I'll try and get something out of my wardrobe sometime to "fake" all of this Victorian beauty, and I'd love to see you dress up as well if you'd like. Get out anything lacy, bowy and elegant and see what you can do! I can't be the only one who loves this look..
